(Rapid City, SD) — Health officials in South Dakota confirm the first case of measles in the state in nearly a decade.
A federal report shows kindergarten students currently fall below the herd immunity standard.
Officials say the first case was reported July 19th in an adult in Pennington County.
The MMR vaccine rates to protect against measles, mumps and rubella have been declining in recent years nationwide.
Most kids with measles have been hospitalized this year.
