Royce White announces campaign for MN Sen. Tina Smith’s seat

MINNESOTA – Fresh off his loss to Minnesota Sen. Amy Klobuchar, Republican Royce White announced plans to run against Sen. Tina Smith in 2026.

“I’m announcing that I fully intend to run against Tina Smith for U.S. Senate in 2026. The campaign starts TODAY! I did better than any other opponent against Amy Klobuchar and we really were just getting started. Defeating her in a debate was hidden from America. Now, I’m starting early! The MAGA movement won a decisive victory and sent a message around the world, but the only way to keep the Republic is to grow the movement,” the former Golden Gophers and NBA player wrote on X thanking the nearly 1.3 million Minnesotans who voted for him on Tuesday.

After that post, White wrote, “Or should I challenge Tim Walz?”

White has never held public office.

Two years ago White ran for Congresswoman Ilhan Omar’s fifth Congressional District seat losing to Cicely Davis in the Republican primary.
