Senate Minority Leader McConnell: J.D. Vance a good pick for Trump’s VP

(MILWAUKEE,  WI) – Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Kentucky) said he’s happy with Republican Presidential nominee Donald Trump’s choosing of Senator J.D. Vance (R-Ohio) as his running mate.

“Well, I think it was a good choice. Obviously, Senator Vance and the President have a lot in common in terms of their views about foreign policy and trade and other things,” McConnell said. “So, I think in the end, a president picked somebody he knew he’d be comfortable with philosophically.”

The Senator said ‘everyone is relieved’ that Trump is alive following Saturday’s attempted assassination on the former president.

“it’s an opportunity to make the point again that we’ve gotten entirely too negative here in the country,” McConnell said. “We have too many divisions and this is what it can lead to if you don’t believe in having discussions about issues collegially. I hope this will be a message to everybody in the country. Let’s get back to normal.”

McConnell made the comments in an interview with The Flag’s Scott Hennen.
