Sens. Klobuchar & Smith demand answers about rumors of closure of federal courthouse in Fergus Falls

WASHINGTON – Minnesota Senators Amy Klobuchar and Tina Smith write a letter to Trump Administration officials wanting answers about the reported closure and sale of the Edward J. Devitt U.S. Courthouse and federal building in Fergus Falls.

The Democrats have raised concerns shutting it down would “restrict access to justice and disrupt public safety in western Minnesota.”

The building is the only federal courthouse outside the Twin Cities and Duluth and home to the U.S. Marshals and U.S. Probation office.

The senators say they have raised concerns that the General Services Administration has not followed its own requirements for public engagement and proper planning before offloading federal property.

Flag Family News reached out to Congresswoman Michelle Fischbach for a comment, but we haven’t heard back.
