(REGION) – As the region begins to plan for your New Years Eve party tonight, a reminder that laws regarding fireworks are different in jurisdictions across the metro.
In Fargo, the possession and use of fireworks within the limits of The City of Fargo is unlawful. In West Fargo, fireworks are allowed to be used tonight from 8 p.m. until 1 a.m. In Moorhead, explosive and aerial fireworks are illegal.
According to Renaissance Fireworks, legal fireworks in Minnesota must not be explosive, must not be an aerial firework (fireworks packaging cannot leave the ground), and must contain less than 500 grams of pyrotechnic powder for multi-tube fireworks, with less than 75 grams of pyrotechnic powder per tube.
In North Dakota, star lights, helicopter flyers, cylindrical fountains, cone fountains, wheels, torches, colored fire, sparkles, dipped sticks, comets, shells, soft shell firecrackers, and whistles are allowed.
