(WASHINGTON, DC) – The Standing Rock Sioux Tribe has filed a lawsuit against the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers regarding the Dakota Access Pipeline (DAPL). In the lawsuit, filed Monday in United States District Court for the District of Columbia, the Tribe is petitioning the court to, among other things, issue an ‘immediate and permanent injunction’ that would prevent Energy Transfer LP to continue operating DAPL. The court could also issue a writ of mandamus to ‘compel’ the defendants to require the shutdown of the pipeline, pending ‘full compliance with the requirements of federal law.’
