NORTH DAKOTA – Republican State Representative Josh Christy died on Tuesday at age 43 according to North Dakota legislative leadership.

They did not provide a cause of death.
“Throughout his time here, he exemplified what it means to be a true servant leader. His approach was one of humility and service, and he was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who asked, regardless of the issue or the challenge. In his time here, Representative Christy worked tirelessly for the people of District 27 and for all of North Dakota,” Senate Majority Leader David Hogue, Senate Minority Leader Kathy Hogan, House Majority Leader Mike Lefor and House Minority Leader Zac Ista said in a statement.

Legislative leadership says in a fitting act of generosity, Christy chose to donate his organs.
Christy leaves behind his wife, Mary, and three daughters; twins Reagan and Abby, and Olivia.
Per state law, North Dakota’s 27th House District in Fargo will hold a meeting within 21 days to select a replacement. Christy was serving his second term which is up in 2026.
