(WESTERN ND) – Two people died in separate crashes in southwestern North Dakota yesterday.
The North Dakota Highway Patrol says the crashes happened 10 minutes apart from each other yesterday.
The first crash involved a 2021 Jeep Gladiator that was southbound on Highway 31 south of Hannover at 4:25 p.m. Yesterday. The driver, a 79-year-old Almont man, veered off the roadway in the vehicle, which then entered the ditch, struck a culvert and launched over the water before landing on its driver’s side.
The man, who has not been identified, died at the scene.
Ten minutes later, a 2025 Kia Sorrento was involved in a crash on County Road 81 in Morton County.
The driver, a 66-year-old female from Hebron, became distracted by a phone call. The vehicle veered off the roadway to the left, entered the eastbound ditch. The vehicle then struck a concrete bridge support and came to a stop.
The driver was not wearing a seatbelt and was lifeflighted to Bismarck, where she was pronounced dead. Three passengers were injured.
Both crashes are under investigation.
