(Washington, DC) — Senator John Thune says he hopes to confirm President-elect Trump’s cabinet picks quickly.
In an interview with NBC’s “Meet the Press,” the new Senate Majority Leader followed up on his recent comments about the need for a new national security team following the attack in New Orleans last week. The South Dakota Republican said while he wants Trump’s cabinet picks to be confirmed as soon as possible, he’s committed to allowing the confirmation process to play out.
Thune is now the head of the Senate Republican Conference, succeeding outgoing Senator Mitch McConnell, who held the role since 2007.
