Trollwood Mentorship Program to end

FARGO, N.D. – A leader with the Trollwood Mentorship Program says it will be cancelled after the 2025-2026 school year.

Fargo Public Schools students in grades nine through 12 can have specialized, one-to-one performing arts mentorship with accredited academic instruction online. It’s a collaborative effort between Trollwood Performing Arts School and the Virtual Academy.

“I couldn’t be more pleased with what we have been able to accomplish in a such a short time on a modest budget. I am saddened and disappointed by this news. District administrators have been very pleased with the program, but budget concerns take top priority,” Trollwood Performing Arts School Student Talent Manager Shawn Brekke said in an email to Flag Family Media.

Fargo Public Schools says the program was cut because of low enrollment. On full-time staff position will be eliminated.

Trollwood says students taking part in the program benefit from creating their own schedule allowing them to take part in mentorship during the school day while also attending classes and activities at their home school.

“Our students have had an amazing experience, and I believe this is a shining example of the best that education can be,” Brekke said.
