Trump looking to remove legal Haitian immigrants from Springfield if elected

SPRINGFIELD, OH — Former President Donald Trump says if he is elected as president, he will deport Haitian immigrants in Springfield.

Trump made the comments to a NewsNation reporter in Texas on Wednesday during a private fundraiser. Trump says he would remove the immigrants by revoking their Temporary Protected Status, which allows the immigrants to live and work in the United States. If that is done, the immigrants in Springfield would be sent back to Haiti.

“You have to remove the people, and you have to bring them back to their own country. They are, in my opinion, it’s not legal,” said Trump in the NewsNation interview. He continued by saying he would remove their Temporary Protected Status, “Absolutely. I’d revoke it, and I’d bring them back to their country.”

This comes after weeks of threats and controversy have consumed the Springfield community, following claims that the Haitian immigrants were eating pets.
