U.S. Attorney for Minnesota announces resignation date

MINNEAPOLIS – U.S. Attorney for Minnesota Andrew Luger announces he will resign at 11:59 PM Wednesday.

“I have been honored to lead this office for the second time.  In March 2022, I set us on the path to address violent crime to meet the challenge our community faced. I am so grateful to the people of this Office and our many law enforcement partners for the work we have done to bring violent criminals to justice. We have also taken aggressive action against child predators, for which I am proud,” Luger said in a statement.

Luger served as U.S. Attorney under President Barack Obama from 2014 to 2017 and under President Joe Biden.

The U.S. Attorney’s office says First Assistant U.S. Attorney Lisa Kirkpatrick will become Acting U.S. Attorney. She previously served as Executive Assistant U.S. Attorney and Appellate Chief.

Under Luger, the U.S. Attorney’s Office charged 70 defendants in the Feeding Our Future scandal, convicted Tony Lazzaro in a sex trafficking case and indicted a woman for straw purchasing guns used in a deadly shooting of three first responders in Burnsville.
