U.S. could reduce military aid to Israel if humanitarian supplies to Gaza doesn’t increase

WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Biden administration could restrict military assistance to Israel if the country doesn’t improve the humanitarian situation in Gaza within the next month.

The statement was in a letter sent to Israeli officials last weekend. Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin said the U.S. must constantly check under law if Israel is “directly or indirectly” disrupting U.S. humanitarian aid to Palestinians in Gaza. They warned that any future military financing may be halted if it is. Specific consequences related to the warning sent to Israel if aid does not increase were not outlined.

This comes after the Biden administration sent a similar letter in April but decided at the time that Israel was taking action to improve the situation.
