UPDATE – President-Elect Donald Trump announces North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum has been appointed as the Chair of the new National Energy Council in addition to Secretary of Interior.
Trump’s transition team says the council will consist of all departments and agencies involved in the permitting, production, generation, distribution, regulation, transportation of all forms of American energy. Burgum will also have a seat on the National Security Council.
“This Council will oversee the path to U.S. energy dominance by cutting red tape, enhancing private sector investments across all sectors of the Economy, and by focusing on innovation over longstanding, but totally unnecessary, regulation. With U.S. Energy Dominance, we will drive down inflation, win the A.I. arms race with China (and others), and expand American diplomatic power to end wars all across the World,” a statement from Trump said.
PALM BEACH, FL — North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum is set serve in President-elect Donald Trump’s administration.
Trump announced Thursday that he has nominated Burgum to lead the Department of the Interior.
“We’re going to things with energy and with land,” Trump told those gathered at the America First Policy Institute Gala in Palm Beach, Florida.
