(FARGO) — The President and CEO of Visit Fargo-Moorhead says the organization has requested to speak in front of the Fargo City Commission Monday regarding a potential resolution regarding establishing an additional three percent city lodging tax.
Charley Johnson, who heads up Visit Fargo-Moorhead, told WDAY Radio in an e-mail that the purpose of the additional tax is to build “much needed” conference space in Fargo.
“It specifically does NOT call for a particular project, and instead says that, if passed, Commissioners would establish a committee to do an RFP (Request for Proposal) process seeking a public-private partnership for the project,” he said.
The FargoDome Authority has said it will also appear before the Commission for a ballot proposal that, if passed by Fargo residents, would add a quarter-cent, 20-year, sales tax for the renovation and expansion of the FargoDome.
