Walz Expected To Sign Executive Order To Create Fraud Investigation Unit

SAINT PAUL, Minn. – Minnesota Governor Tim Walz is expected to sign an executive order that will crack down on fraud.

His office says the move will create a state fraud investigation unit that will spot, investigate and punish people who commit fraud in connection to state programs.

Six months ago five people were convicted in Hennepin County in the first Feeding Our Future fraud trial. The defendants were among dozens of others accused of stealing $250 million in taxpayer funds meant for feeding children. Last month FBI agents raided autism treatment centers in Minneapolis and St. Cloud in an investigation into allegations of Medicaid claims fraud.
