Walz: Legislature to consider fraud prevention measures

SAINT PAUL, Minn. – Minnesota Governor Tim Walz says there will be a significant package of fraud prevention measures for lawmakers to consider next session.

His comments follow FBI raids on autism treatment centers in Minneapolis and St. Cloud last week during an investigation into allegations of Medicaid claims fraud. The search warrants list possible offenses including wire fraud, healthcare fraud and conspiracy. One of the centers, Smart Therapy, has received almost $14 million in state Medicaid funding.

The investigation follows a probe into the $240 million Feeding Our Future scandal.
