West Fargo High School placed in ‘secure building’ after weapons report Tuesday morning

(WEST FARGO) – Students and staff at West Fargo High School were placed into a ‘secure building’ status this morning after reports of a weapon in the parking lot were investigated.

According to West Fargo Public Schools spokeswoman Heather Leas, the secure building status was in place for approximately 10 minutes this morning. A secure building status means that all school operations within the building continued as normally scheduled, but the main entrance to the building was secured.

West Fargo High School’s School Resource Officer, along with the West Fargo Police Department, confirmed that the weapon was an airsoft gun, and, after speaking with the individual, there was no intent to threaten, intimidate or harm anyone.

The individual was not a student at West Fargo High School; they were dropping a student off and hadn’t considered it being an issue to have the airsoft gun in their vehicle.

No students or staff members were in danger, but, out of an abundance of caution, the individual has been trespassed from school property.
