On Thursday evening the Minnesota Wild extended winger Freddy Gaudreau to a five year extension. The deal is worth $10.5 million and will keep Gaudreau in a Wild sweater through the 2027-28 season.

Hours after signing the deal, Gaudreau hit the ice and scored a pair of goals for Minnesota in its 4-3 overtime loss at Nashville to wrap up the regular season.

This season Gaudreau has scored a career-high 19 goals that included 19 assists for 38 total points. He has played in 261 career games in the NHL totaling 100 points on 38 goals and 62 assists.
