Dragon football home opener spoiled by Wayne State

MSUM Dragon Football fell to Wayne State College 44-17 to open the 2024 season.

Jack Strand completed 21 of 46 passes for 300 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions. Gage Florence caught seven passes for a team-high 114 yards. Brady Perryman had four receptions for 109 yards and one touchdown, while Fynn Ridgeway had four catches for 36 yards and one touchdown.

Jack Bungarden paced the MSUM defense with nine tackles followed by Josiah Behm’s eight tackles.

The Wildcats scored 17 points in both the second and fourth quarters of the game. MSUM DID NOT score in the first out fourth quarters.Additionally, Wayne State won the time of possession battle with 35:02 to MSUM’s 24:58 TOP.

The Dragons will hit the road next Saturday, September 14 to battle preseason NSIC favorite Minnesota Duluth.
