Former Bison Otterdahl and Whittle wrap up Olympic play

Former North Dakota State shot put thrower Payton Otterdahl and Women’s Basketball player Marena Whittle have wrapped up their 2024 Paris Olympic runs.

In the shot put final, Otterdahl’s top throw measured 72-03.50 (22.03 m). The throw placed him in fourth, behind Jamaican Rajindra Campbell who took bronze with a throw of 72-08.00 (22.15 m). This was Otterdahl’s highest finish at a global championship event.

Whittle was a part of the four-member Australian women’s 3×3 basketball team. They finished with a 4-3 record, picking up wins against Germany, China, United States, and Azerbaijan. Her Olympic run came to an end when they fell to Canada 21-10 in the play-in round.

Whittle averaged 6.9 points and 2.7 rebounds per game on 59% shooting from the court.
