Report: Twins discussing trade with Padres

(Minneapolis, MN) — The Minnesota Twins might be in the market for a new back-up catcher soon.

The Athletic is reporting that the club is discussing a potential trade that would send Christian Vazquez to San Diego. Vazquez was expected to be Minnesota’s starter when he signed with the team prior to the 2023 season, but weak offensive numbers and the emergence of Ryan Jeffers have forced him to the bench.

Vazquez is due to be paid $10 million dollars in the final year of his contract this season, but he hit just .221 with seven home runs and 27 RBI in 93 games last year.
