West Fargo native and former North Dakota State football player and coach, Tyler Roehl is moving up the coaching ladder with his first crack at the NFL.
The Detroit Lions have announced the 2025 coaching staff under head coach Dan Campbell. Roehl was listed as the franchises Tight Ends Coach for the upcoming season. The Lions tight ends room is led by Pro Bowler Sam LaPorta who is entering his third season with the franchise out of the University of Iowa. In 33 career games he has 146 receptions for 1,615 yards and 17 touchdowns.

2011; Graduate assistant (North Dakota State)
2012-13; Assistant coach (Moorhead High)
2014-18; Running backs and tight ends coach (North Dakota State)
2019-23; Offensive coordinator, tight ends coach, and fullbacks coach (North Dakota State)
2024; Assistant head coach and running backs coach (Iowa State)
2025-present; Tight ends coach (Detroit Lions)
