The Minnesota Wild took down the Washington Capitals 4-2 on Thursday night.
Minnesota trailed 2-1 after the first period, but would score three unanswered goals in the final two periods.
Freddy Gaudreau led the offensive attack with a pair of goals. Matt Boldy and Jon Merrill added a goal apiece. Filip Gustavsson saved 28 of the 30 shots he faced in the crease. The Wild out hit the Capitals 25-13, led by Yakov Trenin’s eight hit night.

Minnesota rose to a record of 41-27-5 on the season and currently have 87 points. They lead St. Louis by two points for the Western Conference’s top Wild Card spot and have one game in hand on the Blues.
The Wild will wrap up their home stand on Saturday beginning at 5 p.m. against the New Jersey Devils.
