The Minnesota Twins fell to the St. Louis Cardinals 5-3 to open their 2025 campaign.
Minnesota and starting pitcher Pablo Lopez struggled early… The Twins trailed 4-0 after the third inning due to Lopez giving up eight hits and the defense behind him committing an error.
The Twins would fight back though, scoring three straight runs… After that the offense went cold again and St. Louis added an insurance run in the eighth inning, before shutting the door on Minnesota in the season opener.
Lopez gave up four runs over five innings of work with three strikeouts, eventually being tagged with the loss. Harrison Bader went two-for-four in his Twins debut with a two-run homer and a double against his former team (Played for St. Louis from 2017-22). Willi Castro drove in a run on an RBI double.

Former Twins pitcher Sonny Gray tossed five innings, giving up two runs on four hits Wirth six strikeouts while earning the win for St. Louis.
The Twins and Cardinals now have an off day on Friday. Game 2 of their season opening series will be on Saturday beginning at 1:15 p.m. with game coverage available on Fox Sports 1.
