The Jimmies are moving… to the NCAA. On Thursday, the University of Jamestown (UJ) received an official membership acceptance to join the NCAA Division II.
In addition to moving to Division II, the Jimmies will join the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference (NSIC) as a member in the 2025-26 academic year.
UJ submitted a special waiver in the expedited membership process that was approved by the NCAA Division II Membership Committee. The approval cuts the institutions provisional time period from three years down to two years.
UJ Athletic Director Austin Hieb made comments on bringing its teams closer to home, creating local rivalries, and adding community engagement. He stated, “Joining the NSIC will not only provide our student-athletes with the opportunity to compete at a higher level, but also strengthen our ties with the local community, maintaining our commitment to academic excellence and community involvement.”
