Vikings delay void date for Murphy

(Eagan, MN) — The Minnesota Vikings are giving themselves some extra time to extend their Pro Bowl cornerback.

The team pushed back the contract void date of Byron Murphy Jr.’s deal yesterday. The void date will now go into effect on the day before free agency next month. While the move gives the Purple more time for negotiations, it also prevents the Vikings from using the franchise tag on Murphy.

The 27-year-old had six interceptions and 81 tackles last season.
