Vikings elevate QB Jones to active roster

(Eagan, MN) — The Minnesota Vikings might have a new back-up quarterback for the NFC Wild Card round.

The team elevated quarterback Daniel Jones from the practice squad to the active roster on Tuesday. Minnesota signed Jones to its practice squad after he was cut by the Giants in November. The move allows the Purple to collect draft pick compensation if Jones signs with another team in the offseason. Jones passed for 2,070 yards, eight touchdowns, and seven interceptions during the regular season.

Quarterback Brett Rypien was waived in a corresponding move.
